Advanced+ level powder boarder
Steef's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"In powder I want float and a bit of flex. I don't mind to work hard for a perfect powder run, as long as it pays off. Blue skies, bottomless powder describes paradise. Looking for adventure sometimes brings me to the edge."

To all my reviews
Wow, I like this Völkl Squad Prime (158cm)! It's a true camber board with a lot of pop and loads of grip. Very light footed, fast side changes but not nervous while speeding down. Stiff but still quite good to handle on bumpy pistes. This board challenges you and encourages you to explore the whole mountain, whether it is on or off-piste. I don't care that Völkl calls it a freestyle board, to me it is a worthy all-mountain 4 star rating! Call it a bonus.
The moment you start on this board you feel like coming home. At least when you are used to stiff camber boards, then don't think, just drive! Adjusting is not necessary. Short turns with powerful input pops you right into the next turn without effort. Long powerful carving turns without loosing grip, nice! Enough float to drive through powder, what do you need more? For advanced riders and up. Beginners – intermediates might find the light and direct handling a bit frightening.
Völkl about the Squad Prime
"THE Freestyle Flagship
Massive airtime in icy pipes, full speed on the Pro Line and landings as safe as an Amen in church – the Squad Prime is the Völkl freestyle team’s secret weapon and has never offered a smoother ride! This is all down to its Pro Camber Shape with a longer effective edge that guarantees so much stability and control that you can ride the board a few centimeters shorter than usual. For this freestyle flagship only the best high-tech materials are good enough: The ultra-light woodcore is reinforced with Premium Carbon, which delivers a smooth ride and massive pop. At the same time the integrated Horror-Shock Absorber made of armor wood can cope with the iciest jumps as it bares the weight of a compact car and therefore absorbs even the harshest landings. In short, the Squad Prime is one of the best Camber freestyle boards out there and is not only made for our pro riders!", says Völkl. Don't know about the freestyle abilities and massive airtime and booters, but experiencing this playful board I guess it will handle that all well too. For me it is a very nice board which I take anywhere.
Nitro Pantera, stiffer and more piste orientated.
Nitro Blacklight Camber, less stiff but also less pop.
GNU Beast. compareable board.
