Expert level freerider
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Easy float, let me hike, surf and play any terrain. I don't like a powder board to be too flexible, because I want to lay some trenches on the groomers too. When the snow starts falling in the evening, I get happily nervous for the next day."
My favourite freeride snowboards:
1. Jones Carbon Flagship
2. Nitro Mountain
3. Jones Flagship

Top freeride, versatile all terrain master
Salomon Assassin is to me just more a freestyle snowboard than an all-mountain board. Mainly because its flex, torsion and dampening that I tend to put it in the Freestyle range. Boarders who like softer prepared pistes as well, will easily get away with the Assassin too. It holds fine in shorter turns on groomed slopes. During powerful larger ones, you will feel its limit in edge grip and it tends to slip. A comfort board for those who like to master all terrains at times.
Comfort and ease
This Salomon board is for comfortable riding. It has a bit of everything. With the flex and maneuverability of the snowboard, cruising powder is no problem. For intermediate snowboarders the Assassin can be a lot of fun for the week around the resort. More experienced boarders who like to push their boarding to extremes on and off-piste, will want to look for a board with more challenge, stiffer like the Nitro Pantera.
Salomon about the Assassin
"Wolle Nyvelt takes no prisoners with the Assassin strapped to his feet. A cross between our most progressive powder and freestyle board constructions. Featuring ABC Green Roll, EQ Rad, Rock Out Camber, and Popster Eco Booster, in one ride-anything package. The Assassin is built with an arsenal of technology for destruction of anything in its path.", says Salomon. The Assassin feels very playful, easy to control and supplies comfort for intermediates. Typical all rounder board.
Ride Machete GT: freestyle relaxer.
Bataleon Omni.: comfort all over.
Völkl Squad Prime: allrounder for charging harder on any terrain.
Keep in mind with the ratings I give that freestyle is not my favorite snowboard discipline.
