Expert level freerider
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Easy float, let me hike, surf and play any terrain. I don't like a powder board to be too flexible, because I want to lay some trenches on the groomers too. When the snow starts falling in the evening, I get happily nervous for the next day."
My favourite freeride snowboards:

2. Nitro Mountain

Easy allround freerider
The Burton Family Tree Modified Fish or Mod Fish is related to the good old Burton Fish. A directional freeride board that is quite light in weight and pretty playful. At least more playful than the Burton Tough Cat. I took the Mod Fish at 156 cm and experienced a good float in powder snow. Being quite short for me, the Mod Fish is very easy to maneuver. And as it is not a superfast snowboard, the Mod Fish is very suitable to take out in forest terrain. Once you get on groomers, the performance isn't anything special or it must be that in case of a bumpy piste you'll maneuver around with ease. At higher speed on groomers the Mod Fish gets a bit nervous. Shorter turns are nice with enough edge grip. I like more rebound and stiffer boardds better, therefor it is a 3 star board for my likings.
Midrange level board
As the Burton Modified Fish is not made to be the biggest challenge, a lot of boarders can ride it. It is a matter of preference in what you want to do on the mountain. The Mod Fish floats good and is easy maneuverable. That together makes it a board on which you can concentrate on the slope, on the terrain as the Mod Fish forgives a great deal. And personally I like to be challenged by a snowboard to push it to my limits, I also know that for a lot of others the comfort and maneuverability are way more important. For them, the freeriders, the Burton Mod Fish is a great board.
Burton about the Modified Fish
"Find lines on the trail map or deep in the woods with this more versatile version of the original surfy shortboard.
We see you eyeing up those pow stashes. Drop a line into deeper waters with this modified take on the iconic Burton Fish. A loose and surfy feel of a reduced sidecut and more centered (but still directional) stance make the Modified Fish a friendly alternative for anyone seeking soft turns. From steep chutes to tight trees, this round tail trawler will have you reaching for your snorkel and diving deeper every day.", says Burton. That about sums it up for the Modified Fish. The challenge is not in the snowboard, but in the terrain.
Lib Tech Attack Banana: playful, not extreme, wit nice response, freestyle all terrain board.
Nitro Diablo: in the same range, freeride powder board as well.
Burton Fish: less playful, higher level board.
