Expert level freerider
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Easy float, let me hike, surf and play any terrain. I don't like a powder board to be too flexible, because I want to lay some trenches on the groomers too. When the snow starts falling in the evening, I get happily nervous for the next day."
My favourite freeride snowboards:
1. Jones Carbon Flagship
2. Nitro Mountain
3. Jones Flagship

A responsive powder snowboard
So I tested a freestyle board for a change. From my point of view the Goliath is mostly or better only a freestyle snowboard. Of course I tried to do what I like most, but no chance for racecarving and anything with speed involved. Then for the freestyle addicts: Goliath is easy to get on its edge and switch sides. Flexible and comfortable. The bottom shape with three length wise parts that give it a bit of a bowl shape makes switching edges easy. Less suitable for carving, more for gliding and sliding and all your tricks. Nice for the freestylers amongst us. I stopped asking myself what I can do with it and switched to what or who is the Goliath snowboard made for. It is for short, twisted, jibbing, playful boarding. It forgives a lot, nice for the funpark boarders. The Goliath seems to keep on asking me don't you wanna play? In powder it floats enough, but doesn't have enough bite, strength for me. Personal, but too forgiving for me.
Bataleon about the Goliath+
"We call it Goliath+ because it’s a beast on all fronts. The core of its strength comes from the Core Core—poppy poplar wood with hardwoods running tip-to-tail along the inserts for a forceful flex. We lace it up with carbon fiber armor, two strips running lengthwise just outside the inserts for beefed up ollies and underfoot power. Then we coat it in a tri-axial weave of fiberglass for tuned response and edge hold at speed. It’s all carved into our All Mountain 3BT shaping for the perfect mix of big mountain performance and freestyle finesse. Be David and slay this Goliath+ all over the mountain.", says Bataleon. All over is not anyway on the mountain. Versatile freestyle with a lot of flexibility is to me a better way to describe the Goliath+.
Bataleon Omni: which feels more versatile and I think a skill level higher.
Ride Machete GT: versatile freestyle alternative.
Salomon Assassin: better performance on piste extra.
