Snowboard reviews |

"Easy float, let me hike, surf and play any terrain. I don't like a powder board to be too flexible, because I want to lay some trenches on the groomers too. When the snow starts falling in the evening, I get happily nervous for the next day." Skills
My favourite freeride snowboards:

"In powder I want float and a bit of flex. I don't mind to work hard for a perfect powder run, as long as it pays off. Blue skies, bottomless powder describes paradise. Looking for adventure sometimes brings me to the edge." Skills
My favourite powder snowboards:
2. GNU Beast

"Powder snow is highly addictive to me, play and surf the virgin snow without extremes. Adrenaline takes over quickly and that results sometimes in impossible acrobatic crashes. All experiences will improve my skills though." Skills
Favourite Powder - Park boards:
1. Burton Custom Flying V
More to come |
Powder (freeride) and Park (freestyle) snowboards can have big differences amongst them. And it is possible to go all-mountain with these boards as well, so the edge of the category is definitely blurry. For us boarders it is most important to know in which terrain and with which skills a board is most comfortable. That is what the Yellow Gentian testers describe without getting into technical details too much. Pick your board carefully as it is for the best time of your life!
Powder or freeride snowboards
Powderboards are of course build for fresh snow. And there are boards you can still race and make large turns at speed in powder with. On the other side the powderboard range can be playful and flexibel. Big difference of almost all Powderboards with the all-mountain snowboards is the lack of qualities at speed and carving on piste. Some so called big-mountain boards for steep pow lines are excellent for carving on the piste too though. You'll find them in the all-mountain category.
Funpark or freestyle snowboards
Parkboards are usually more flexible and playful. Dampening and forgivingness is important for the funpark addicts. You won't find a lot of Park snowboards on Yellow Gentian yet as the first testers had different preferences. And for the freestylers amongst us it is not very useful to have a carve addict tell them that the test in their terrain wasn't very successful. So always keep an eye on the profile of the tester. Soon we'll add freestylers to the Yellow Gentian testteam, so that you guys get a useful opinion about the newest boards around too. And suggestions are always welcome!.
Ratings are personal
The snowboard testers you see, have all tested powder/freeride/park/freestyle snowboards as they are categorized by the manufacturer. Their snowboard reviews and ratings reflect the kind of boarder they are. In our opinion the big snowboard brands don't make bad boards. The challenge is to find the right match between board and snowboarder and that will stay at least partly subjective. By getting to know more about the tester, you should be able to get an idea what the snowboard can do for you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask us via Google+, facebook or by e-mail info@yellowgentian.com. And you can become a tester on the Yellow Gentian website yourself too! In case you want to share your own reviews about Powder or Park snowboards, just fill in the test report form and we'll get in touch with you.
