Advanced+ level all-mountain boarder
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Which board has the highest limits on every terrain? Push and enjoy it to the max everywhere. Adrenaline comes from sharp long carves till blinding amounts of fresh snow in the woods. All-mountain snowboards should be able to handle it all."
My favourite all-mountain snowboards:
1. Nitro Pantera
2. Amplid UNW8
3. Capita Supernova

Versatile intermediate board
Salomon Super8 is first of all a true all-mountain snowboard. It can ride any snowcondition without punishment and from intermediate snowboard skills it is easy to handle. I tested the Super8 at 157cm length by the way, felt good and if I would take another one, I would go for the larger on at 160cm. The all-mountain aspects are so obvious in this case with the directional shape (larger tip rocker) and the recommended stance back. It makes that the Salomon Super8 rides powder with ease as well. It does limit the board on icier groomers but not in a way that it would scare you away. Super8 turns easy, switches easy and I talk about the limits mainly because of the medium flex. For some that is a plus as it makes it playful and forgiving, personally I like an all-mountain board to have less flex. Therefor you'll understand I give the Super8 a 3 star with a + rating.
Floatation and playfulness
Logically with all-mountain snowboards is that they can't excel in everything. The best balance between several qualities is a personal preference. With the Salomon Super8 you get more floatation and playfulness than rebound, carving and punishment. Certainly for better snowboarders the Super8 is an easy ride all day. The back stance ensures the rear leg doesn't have to be pushed over the limit, especially when riding powder at less steep slopes. When the powder gods let us down and we ride the firm pistes, I would recommend to put the bindings a bit forward. That helps control and edge hold in turns. Still limited and the Super8 still forgives, which results in a rather playful character. Fast switching makes the Salomon Super8 very maneuverable on piste. Nice all-mountain board, tends to be a freerider.
Salomon about the Super8
"Inspired by Wolle Nyvelt’s surfy style and Josh Dirksen’s authoritative edge control, the Super 8 Snowboard is designed with Backseat Camber that puts the power and control under your back foot, whether you’re ripping pow or laying down turns on groomers.", says Salomon.
Amplid Paradigma: another typical allrounder, good for intermediates.
Burton Custom Mystery: all-mountain board, the top-end high quality, forgiving and comfort too.
Flow WhiteOut: more balance to all terrain with a powder bottom.
