Advanced+ all-mountain boarder
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Which board has the highest limits on every terrain? Push and enjoy it to the max everywhere. Adrenaline comes from sharp long carves till blinding amounts of fresh snow in the woods. All-mountain snowboards should be able to handle it all."
My favourite all-mountain snowboards:
1. Nitro Pantera
2. Amplid UNW8
3. Capita Supernova

Extreme width for all-mountain
Flow Stout is remarkable wide for an all-mountian snowboard at each length. For me this worked out fine in powder snow where the floatation of the Flow Stout is very good. Once on groomers it behaves totally different. Despite the wide of the board, the Flow Stout lets itself very comfortly into the turn initiation. After that it is great if you like a comfort descent. It forgives, and won't ask for ultimate skills or extreme power. And the level that the Flow Stout demands of its rider is the same in every snowcondition which makes it a playful board for intermediate riders. Personally I like more power and challenge, therefor a 3 star rating.
Shape, surf, carve
The Flow Stout is consistent in the skills needed. For example, on groomers while the turn initiation is easy, it then gives flexibility for a relative long time. This means that you can't push it full power as you will dig yourself into the mountain. Once on the edge the torsional stiffness is OK again and the Stout rides easy the rest of the turn. For optimum use of the Flow Stout, you'd better like to take it easier. The shape of the board shows some camber under both feet and rocker in between and both ends, a hybrid snowboard. The camber gives it some bite and the rocker parts make powder riding easy. Float all you wish and here the flexible tip helps a lot to turn and surf without being punished.
Flow about the Stout
"Turn & burn on this super fun surfy and carvy wider platform board.", says Flow.
Salomon Super8: compareable level, with less float.
Flow Enigma: I like the Enigma a lot better on piste, while float better is at the Stout.
Rossignol XV Magtek: good float, higher level all-mountain board, torsional stiffer.
