Advanced+ level all-mountain boarder
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Which board has the highest limits on every terrain? Push and enjoy it to the max everywhere. Adrenaline comes from sharp long carves till blinding amounts of fresh snow in the woods. All-mountain snowboards should be able to handle it all."
My favourite all-mountain snowboards:
1. Nitro Pantera
2. Amplid UNW8
3. Capita Supernova

Allround with toughness
The Burton Tough Cat snowboard is an all-mountain board for the allrounder. You need skills to ride it comfortably and with intermediate skills you can improve yourself with the Tough Cat. Not very playful, not very forgiving, this Burton board is set on the more serious site of snowboarding. Tough in the name reflects to me the edge switch on piste. Once on the edge it carves fine enough to rip groomers at speed. Despite the needed effort, the Tough Cat steers precise. And the performance is equally good in fresh powder. Not extreme, but here the Burton Tough Cat likes to be riden at high speed too. That gives it stability and floatation. The Burton Tough Cat is a 4 star snowboard for my likings.
The Tough Cat is clearly build to last long. With thicker edges and a tougher belag, the Burton snowboard gives you a better chance when hitting rocks. Plus the edges can be sharpened more times until they run out of course. For the latter counts of course, will you be so lucky to ride backcountry without hitting serious rocks for so long that the board will end his life span just because the edges run out by the number of services it needs. For me personally, that happened only once and the surface was scattered by then. Anyway, back to the Burton Tough Cat, I like it when the manufacturer builds a board that is better adapted to what the backcountry throws at you. Despite the extra weight it causes, I prefer the pro's.
Burton about the Tough Cat
"All-mountain aggression and bomber durability in our fastest-turning, most responsive Family Tree deck yet. We named it the Tough Cat because aggressive, high performance pow boards are not for the faint of heart. The most responsive board in the Family Tree line features the most aggressive sidecut that any Burton board has had in over a decade. Beefier edges all around also make it one of the most durable decks in the line, while an FSC™ Certified Super Fly II™ 700G Core with the pop and power of Squeezebox guarantees a smooth ride and snappy flex no matter what terrain you drop in on. Rugged, hard-carving and quick – this cat will claw its way through anything.", says Burton.
Capita the Black snowboard of Death: also invites you to push your limits.
Amplid UNW8: up to expert level snowboard, fantastic.
Nitro Ultimate: fast and responsive all-mountain board.
