Advanced+ level all-mountain boarder
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Which board has the highest limits on every terrain? Push and enjoy it to the max everywhere. Adrenaline comes from sharp long carves till blinding amounts of fresh snow in the woods. All-mountain snowboards should be able to handle it all."
My favourite all-mountain snowboards:
1. Nitro Pantera
2. Amplid UNW8
3. Capita Supernova

Relative easy to ride camber snowboard
I can ride the Custom X snowboard on every terrain. Off-piste I have a lot of fun with this Burton board. Easy to turn and enough float to get around in any off-piste terrain. On the piste I had to adjust my way of snowboarding a bit. Once I pushed it to the maximum it wouldn't hold. With the maximum I mean pushing the board into long turns at high speed and see how much carve or edge grip it can hold. Sadly Custom X breaks out too quick to be an absolute top end all-mountain snowboard in my opinion. Carving quality and edge grip is very important for me, so 3 stars for this snowboard.
On piste carving explained
As I wrote I experienced the limits of the Custom X on the piste. I really expected some more carving qualities. True, it is only on one aspect to test an all-mountain snowboard, but an important one to me. If fast carving long turns on groomed slopes is not your thing though, you can totally like this snowboard. The all-mountain part of the snowboard disciplines is covered fine. I took it in powder and got enough speed, float, control and dampening. I had fun with it in the forest. The Burton Custom X is stable at high speed straight ahead as well. Maybe that last thing is the cause for the shortage of carving quality.
Burton about the Custom X
"An aggressive beast, the Custom X delivers with its pro-caliber speed and cambered precision. It has repeatedly delivered for snowboarding’s most demanding riders due to precise design and powerful drive. The confidence is in the tech, which includes the carbon-fueled snap of Squeezebox High core profiling, a competition-grade base, and 45° Carbon Highlights Hi-Voltage for the ultimate in lightweight responsiveness. The hardest charging board Burton make, the X is the only choice in camber for riders who own podiums and stack serious footage.", says Burton. I think the Custom X is a good snowboard, but I like others better. Especially on the aggressive part, as the edge grip is not top at full power carving.
Salomon Pulse: just as good and a lot cheaper.
Nitro Pantera: a lot of edge grip at high speed carving plus unforgiving.
Salomon Rancho: supplies quality once you put effort in your boarding.
