Snowboard review Salomon Drift
Drifting and cruising in powder
I have had fantastic freeride runs with the Salomon Drift. Speeding in the backcountry, surfing the powder. And all that with little effort. That was so promising that I just had to check how it is on short turns in waist deep powder of course. So I took it through the forest to test maneuverability, no problem at all. The rocker part of the Drift helps so much that you don't have to be afraid of diving. And the inevitable following 360.
Cheapest price we found Salomon Drift snowboard 2014 for sale:
Not for sale anymore, maybe you like one of these alternatives:
1. Nitro Slash
3. GNU Beast
With 159 cm the Drift is actually a bit short for my length combined with off-piste boarding. Alternative is taking a Wide Drift to get it longer. If the cruising quality backcountry increases even further i am a happy man. The Salomon Drift makes boarding in chopped-up snow comfortable. The Snowboard cuts through when i want it and when it goes over it , the Drift is flexible enough. So you won't get bumped from one track to another.
60%park 10%piste 30%off-piste
Forgiving, easy switch
Powder player, good dampening
Piste if necessary
I wouldn't buy it for boarding on the piste. Although no worries either when you are there. Easy to handle and to steer, pretty playful. For the powder quality i am happy to give in on the carving, adrenaline level is high enough after freeride runs. And you can still turn short and put it on its edges with an acceptable switch. Demping is okay as well. Not really important when you land in deep powder, but still, it is positive.
Salomon about the Drift
Drift Rocker is a park prodigy that will surely impress and out perform your fellow park buddies, says Salomon. I never expected to have such a good time on what apparently is a park snowboard. The Drift is for freestylers and I had fun with it in powder. This might make it suitable for a lot more people than what Salomon has in mind.
Dimensions/sizes of the Drift

With as much freestyle qualities you can have a look at Bataleon Omni and Bataleon Goliath. For even better powder qualities have a look at a more specialized snowboard for the backcountry like the Nitro Slash.
