Advanced+ level all-mountain boarder
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Which board has the highest limits on every terrain? Push and enjoy it to the max everywhere. Adrenaline comes from sharp long carves till blinding amounts of fresh snow in the woods. All-mountain snowboards should be able to handle it all."
My favourite all-mountain snowboards:
1. Nitro Pantera
2. Amplid UNW8

Fast and responsive all-mountain board
Testing the Ultimate, I expected this all-mountain board to be less than his brother the Nitro Pantera in every aspect. And it was just that, but only a tiny bit. With this camber board I am able to carve long turns aggressively, without breaking out. High speeds are no problem for this boy, the Ultimate will keep its line at any speed. Don’t buy it for playing around and beginners will have a tough time on it. The Ultimate is responsive and not necessarily very forgiving. Get to know him, make him your friend and he pays back. Considering the quality of this snowboard I am surprised it is hardly for sale anywhere. Or it must be the stiff pricetag.
Carving and off-piste
With the Ultimate you can do some nice carving on groomed pistes. You put effort in it and you get carving speed back. It doesn’t break out in the long turns. Nice pop, not extreme though, but definitely enough for the more experienced boarder I think. Short turns are harder, as is logical. To me it feels like the Pantera has a bit more of everything, but the Ultimate has a wider nose. Making a bit easier to ride off-piste in a lot of powder. With what I experienced, I can totally imagine that the Ultimate is (more than) enough for most riders. It could be for me.
Nitro about the Ultimate
"The Koroyd core makes this one of the lightest snowboard on the market, without losing its responsive qualities and precision performance down the steepest of runs. The koroyd core has unparalleled vibration-absorbing properties, which make this the high performance snowboard ride like a luxury vehicle. The Ultimate offers minimal chatter and maximum response at a fraction of your standard snowboard weight.", says Nitro. This all-mountain snowboard delivers quality. Very light and responsive, I like it. Durability of the technology is harder to test for me of course. Just let me know if you have some specific experience on that point.
Salomon Pulse: nice board that forgives more and a lot cheaper in general.
Rossignol One Magtek : more playful, more flex.
Nitro Pantera: all-mountain tank which needs continuous attention.
