Snowboard review K2 Gyrator
Floating through deep snow is an easy job with this board under your feet. It’s made mainly for off piste use but also it’s surprisingly good handling on-piste.

If you are a on-piste orientated rider who gets a kick out of some good carving, you better look elsewhere. A 3 star rating for that discipline. But if powder is your thing, it will definitively gets a 5 star rating. As Alex states as well, K2 has no 2013 model anymore of the Gyrator. That might give you the change to pick one up cheap.
Beginner - expert
70% off-piste, 30% piste
Powder focus, sufficient on piste
Fantastic in powder!
On piste grip and stiff enough
To start with the on piste part, don’t expect the K2 Gyrator to give you a huge pop out of turns. The rocker is just way too big. But nevertheless I could still manage to go round with ease, and when I started to push the board in powerfull turns, the Gyrator holds the line amazingly well and doesn’t loose grip. High speed downhill big turns doesn’t result in a flapping and vibrating board, what you might expect. It seems to be even stiff as comfortable.
Powder snow is what it is made for
Wonderful how the board operates in the powder. The K2 Gyrator floats quite easily and the nose stays nice above the snow. The agility of this board in the powder is amazing, you will enjoy a good run through the forest. So easy, very nice! I didn’t feel the need of changing the stance of the bindings coming from on piste to off piste, it just felt natural.
K2 about the Gyrator
"Rocker started here. Made for powder float and quick turns in the trees." says K2 about the 2012 snowboard. It did feel very comfortable off-piste!
