Expert level freerider
Alex's rating of this snowboard:
Considering his boarders profile:
"Easy float, let me hike, surf and play any terrain. I don't like a powder board to be too flexible, because I want to lay some trenches on the groomers too. When the snow starts falling in the evening, I get happily nervous for the next day."
My favourite freeride snowboards:
1. Jones Carbon Flagship
2. Nitro Mountain
3. Jones Flagship

Top freeride, versatile all terrain master
GNU Beast is a top freeride snowboard with versatile qualities. It is the first snowboard of GNU that I've tested and it was a nice meeting. Stiff with acceleration while carving on the piste. Even some all-mountain boards loose grip when you put power in it, but the Beast holds fairly well and that for a freeride/freestyle board. It is steady and stable at speed and versatile enough to handle powder and forest rides. Rocker in the board and the directional shape make the freeride comfortable. Advanced boarders who are active and fit enough to get the qualities out of it, will be a good match for the Beast. A 4-star rating.
No fear on any terrain
The Beast its versatility is its major weapon. With this freeride - freestyle snowboard you don't need to hesitate to go anywhere on the mountain. It is able to handle it and gives confidence. Enough float for a good layer of fresh snow. Maneuverable for the forest. And when you hit the groomers, it will hold up fine. GNU Beast doesn't forgive everything, which I like. Good riders will like it any day of the week, is my estimation.
GNU about the Beast
"XC2 Freeride/freestyle. Designed with quality days on quality mountains in mind. The Beast is ready for the best and worst Mt. Baker or Jackson Hole can throw at you and will absolutely rip when it gets good. Big floaty mellow entry nose, mild tail settling taper angle, enough tail to rail in both directions. Designed by Temple Cummins. - All-mountain freeride - Intermediates to pros like Blake Paul.", says GNU. That's what I call versatile. Not written by GNU but worth mentioning on top is the very acceptable carve performance.
Rossignol One Magtek is of the same quality, but more all-mountain/playful orientated than the Beast.
Burton Barracuda more powder float and more flexible.
Nitro Slash: powder only.
