Intermediate+ level piste skier Alex's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:

"On piste I like the shorter slalom turns better than the longer turns, it feels more dynamic. As I usually ski all day long, I like my skis to be a challenge but not too stiff, so I can carve and cruise at the same time."
The Salomon X-Race SW I have tested is 175 cm long and with a 17 meter radius a tough Giant Slalom ski for recreational skiers. You have to have good skills to be able to tame it. When for example I go full speed and power on it, the X-Race SW at this length is too much for me to ski all day. Especially as I am not the only one on the piste and with the unforgivingness of the SideWall X-Race it would get dangerous for the others at a certain point. Good fun for my level to go up first in the morning, find that perfect groomer and give everything you have though. The Salomon X-Race SW is an excellent ski for good skiers. If you are not yet, you probably like the somewhat easier to ski Salomon X-Race SC better.
X-Race SW radius from 11 till 17 meter
Salomon has X-Race SW lengths coupled with the radius, just like the former X-Race serie. Same for the Salomon X-Race SC serie and the X-Max serie. I haven't tested the smaller X-Race SW's yet, but from experience with the former X-Race model, I wouldn't be afraid to take an SL size 165 or so. At that length the toughness is easier to control on piste and besides that I like slalom size turns better anyway. The SideWall provides such a good edge grip and the ski is stiff enough to give that great carve sensation in long turns. If it wasn't for the feeling that the X-Race SW wears me out, I would give it more stars, but for my level of skiing it is just too much.
Salomon about the X-Race
"Performance race technology and progressive radius enables passionate skiers to select their turn shape and speed.", says Salomon. Pretty smart making one line of piste ski's with differences in length and radius. That way it doesn't feel you have to make a choice between extremes and piste skiers can pick their favorite size of turns within the same ski serie.
