Expert level slalom skier

Excellent piste ski
My new friend, the Salomon X-Race (170 cm)! After a few meters I knew I could trust this ski. Direct, stable, excellent grip and reasonably fast switch from side tot side. Long carved turns, middle-long carved turns, even short carved turns are possible. Ok, it is not a slalom ski, but this ski is a great ski to have beside or instead of your slalom ski. The Salomon X-Race deserves definitely 5 stars! Where I normally stay between the pisteborders, I went out of my ‘comfortzone’ to test this ski. Even there was no fresh snow since a week, this ski moves easily through the mess outside the piste. It is nice to see how this ski makes it possible to ski in not-prepared snow. Most of the time I feel like a starter with my slalom skies off-piste, this ski makes it feel comfortable. I was disappointed there was no fresh snow…
Our salesman from the testcenter warned me for the Salomon X-race; ‘be prepared for these race guns’. ‘Is your level above intermediate?’ So I was a bit reserved before starting. But within a few meters this feeling changed into enthusiasm. What a great ski! At the moment of testing the pistes were flat without fresh snow, but I think even with fresh snow this is a perfect ski. In long- en middle long turns the ski behaves almost like a giant slalom ski without loosing dynamic. Stiff, but still manageable. So you have to put some energy in the ski, but you get it doubled back! Great!!
Salomon about the X-Race
"The 1st ski that allows passionate skiers to enjoy race technology whatever their radius or speed preference.” “the best sweet spot for any individual", says Salomon. The ski I tested was 170 cm, too long for a slalom ski, too short for a giant slalom. Maybe this is the reason why this ski is perfectly useable for short en long turns.
