Intermediate+ level piste skier Alex's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
en-US - * - 3011
"On piste I like the shorter slalom turns better than the longer turns, it feels more dynamic. As I usually ski all day long, I like my skis to be a challenge but not too stiff, so I can carve and cruise at the same time."
Salomon X-Pro SW is a highly maneuverable piste ski. With focus on short turns and enough edge grip to finish a carve turn at medium power. The X-Pro SW is quite fast and agile on groomers without the more extreme punishment of race skis like in the Salomon X-Race serie. With an active or sportive attitude this piste ski is easily controllable. And the X-Pro SW is playful in the sense of the easy steering and switching the way you want it. You might want to compare it with a very light version of a cross ski like the Stöckli Laser SX which I highly rate. That is because it can handle all amounts of input and power and will punish you. And as the Salomon X-Pro SW is in the same quality range but some levels easier, more comfortable, I give it 3 stars.
Piste ski pur sang
Salomon X-Pro SW wants to be skied on groomers, in any condition. That is the advantage of a ski with such a short radius, no bumpy road is too much. And when your piste is corduroy paved, you can ski the slalom size turns comfortable as well. Although the X-Pro SW gives some nice rebound, it is not deadly. Edge grip is sufficient and in balance with the overall performance. In this case that means that switching from carving on the edge to sliding during the turn is still quite easy. That makes that the Salomon X-Pro SW forgives if your ski technique is not totally perfect. If the Salomon X-Max is too easy for you, the X-Pro SW might just be your ski on the piste as it is not a total relax ski.
Salomon about the X-Pro SW
