Intermediate+ level piste skier
Steef's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
"For me skiing on piste is all about testing the limits of speed and grip of the skis, both slalom and giant slalom. Comfort and flex are less important to me than stability. Skiing is supposed to take a lot of energy out of you."
My favourite piste skis:
1. Atomic Redster D2 GS
2. Stöckli Laser SX
3. Fischer RC4 Worldcup RC

Neutral slalom ski
The Dobermann SLR EVO (165cm) is a stiff carve ski, but still handles easy. I felt good control in short and big turns. This Nordica slalom ski holds its line precise and with a good amount of grip. At the same time it is not a thrill, a challenge, so for me it is a 3 star slalom ski.
This Nordica slalom ski performs good but in a rather anonymous way. Because of that I miss some ‘bite’, especially in the short turns. Yes, the Dobermann SLR pops out of corners very nice with controlable force, but they are not giving me that thrill like the Fisher RC4 Worldcup SC Pro for example. It is more like the Rossignol Radical 8 SL, but stiffer.
Nordica about the Dobermann SLR EVO
"Wish you had the perfect ski for carving up the courses and the slopes? The Dobermann SLR EVO is bred to do both with an inspiring blend of titanium and wood core, perfectly mixing energy and arc. The only ski frontside rippers will ever want, this terrain tamer makes the highway seem boring after a day on the lifts.", according to Nordica. Well, yes, but I think the ski suits also the less experienced skiers. And although short turns are OK, big turns are OK too. So the slalom ski feels a bit in the middle of slalom and giant slalom. Because of that plus the lack of thrill and bite I give it a 3-star quality mark.
