Reviewer Craig

"My preference in a piste ski (the third and narrowest ski in my Quiver) will probably be in the approximate 65mm to 85mm underfoot. I love high edge angles, high edge hold, short radius turns, and a detuned race ski answers that call."

The Ski

All of the HEAD race series begin with "I", as in ISL. This is a stiff ski, (even for this category) and it prefers to stay on piste, always on edge, at high edge angles. The World Cup does come with the FIS plate, and did require remounting for each demo. I did ski this Head back to back with several detuned race skis, and its stability at speed fell behind the top rated Rossignol Hero Elite ST Ti. Excellent short radius carve turns are to be expected, and this ski won't disappoint. I will say, I rated it's edge grip as, "very good for this category". I was expecting superb! This "Rebel" also hooked during high edge angle turns. It seemed to have two turn radius! I had to stay aware of this skis tendency to overturn, and it's lack of linear progression through the turn. This may be a characteristic you could become accustomed to with time, and perhaps appreciate, but is best left to experts only.

Who is this ski for?

- If your priority is short radius turns, and you stay on groomed piste conditions
- Expert level skiers
- If a "forgiving nature" is not on your list of requirements

Head about the Worldcup Rebels i.SL RD

"Fast, tight and confident in turns the WCR i.SL RD is the ultimate competition slalom ski for pro level speed freaks. We have given the ski a super responsive positive camber for aggressive reactivity and lightning acceleration, plus a wood core Worldcup Sandwich Construction with the enhanced control of Titanal and the perfect balance, weight saving and strength of Graphene. We also endowed it with KERS for added turbo and the stabilising effects of Intelligent Technology for smoother, snappier performance.", says HEAD.
