Considering his skiers profile:
True piste allrounder
The Atomic Redster XTI + XT 12 (tested length is 176 cm) is a true on-piste allrounder. Medium-long turns, short turns, high speeds and going slow: it does everything quite well. The ease of entry of the turn is remarkable. It reminds me of the rocker design this ski shares with the Double Deck race line by Atomic. An easy entry, but not as precise or direct as a true race model. On the other hand: the fact that it is not extreme in any way makes it a perfect choice for a ski instructor who deals with beginners at slow speeds most times, but wants to blow off some steam at lunch time.
Watch the radius
This simply is a very good ski. But there is one peculiar feature about it: the sidecut radius. The two longer lengths (176 and 169) like medium turns with respectively a 16.4 and 15.5 meter radius. The shorter skis (164 and 157) have more of a slalom geometry with respectively a 11.7 and 11.1 meter radius. Although I haven’t skied the shorter length myself, I would imagine this can make quite a difference in stability and general behaviour of this ski.
Atomic about the Redster XTI + XT 12
"A great high-end option. The perfect fusion of an SL and GS ski. The Atomic Redster XTI is one of our top new Redster XT performance piste skis. It’s powered by Redster race technology, but with a more all-mountain feel for playful smooth rides on piste – making it the perfect ski for people who love the high-level performance of a Redster, but who don’t want to rock the racing look on the piste all day. It comes with a Full Sidewall, Race Rocker and Power Woodcore that adds a ton of stability and dampens vibrations at speed. XT stands for ‘Cross Turn’ meaning its multi-radius sidecut offers the perfect blend of GS and SL performance. Ability: ambitioned", says Atomic. And i think they do know their ski.
