Reviewer Mary T

"I prefer a heavy damp ski, without much rebound. I place emphasis on control and style, no matter the conditions. My favorite memories are double diamond bumps runs with a foot of untracked!"

Carving delight

I had this ski in my quiver for over a season here in Colorado. This ski loves to carve on groomed terrain with good conditions. Great introduction to a wider ski, for those coming off a more traditional width. It is at home on groomed conditions, but I find it to be challenging in the bumps. It has stiff flex, and too much rebound. The light construction of this ski make it a handful in crud, and inconsistent conditions. It bounces across, instead of cutting through crud. I would recommend this ski for those who prefer groomed terrain, and avoid bumps, and off piste conditions. Advanced skiers may want more..... Might be better suited for backcountry skiers, where a light weight ski is a priority.

Rossignol about the Savory 7

"A revolutionary fusion of backcountry innovation and progressive freeride performance, the new women's SAVORY 7 is the pinnacle of freeride versatility for expert to intermediate skiers. Featuring our patented Air Tip technology; Powder Turn Rocker profile; ultra-lightweight paulownia construction; and 106mm waist width, the women's version of the Soul 7 offers an award-winning blend of all-mountain versatility and effortless float to "push your boundaries with confidence". Air Tip enhances floatation and control even further, keeping tips naturally above the snow surface for fatigue-free maneuverability and easy directional changes while reducing "tip flap" in variable snow. No matter where the snow takes you, whether resort-based or backcountry bound – the future of freeride is here. 80% Powder / 20% All-Mountain" and "MAIN TECHNOLOGY - AIR TIP: Rossignol's patented air-honeycomb design reduces the weight of the ski and dramatically reduces swing weight (by nearly 30%). This significantly enhances maneuverability, giving the ski an incredibly ultra-light feel. The reduced density at the extremities also concentrates ski mass underfoot, allowing the tips to rise above the snow surface for truely effortless floatation. Reinforced with ABS skeleton for increased durability and enhanced torsional rigidity", says Rossignol.

2017-2018 Powder Ski Review

Wider skis are better! Let's check it out.

by Craig

I have selected some of the wider offerings (approximate 115mm underfoot and above) that were available for 2016-17 season, as well, the new releases coming for 2017-18. See the individual ski reviews on the Yellow Gentian site for further details on each ski, and best internet pricing on...
