Reviewer Alex

"I like that great surfy feeling of skiing in powder snow like most people do. On extreme days a pure rocker ski is nice but usually I prefer the combination with camber. That challenges me more and supplies versatility."

Playful, easy everywhere

The Blizzard Latigo is the smallest ski I have seen placed in modern freeride categories. With 78mm under the feet, the Latigo ski would usually be an all-mountain ski. In this we follow the manufacturer though. Skiing the Latigo I experience the ski more as an all-mountain ski. So easy to put on the edge on groomers, that the piste qualities can't be ignored. Side country, soft snow, is easy to handle with its flex and float. Being agile on piste, don't be afraid for the crud and bumps. The Latigo offers you comfort. Even more than with the Blizzard Brahma. 4 stars as an all-mountain comfort ski.

Versatile versus bite

The Latigo is versatile by its size and flex. That makes it easy ski on any terrain. For that quality you inevitably give in on pure speed and edge grip. And with champagne powder it is more relaxed to have a full rocker wider ski too. Everything in between is a joy with the Blizzard Latigo. Personally I like the performance overall. I am not winning but still fine on icy groomers and once there is something like crud showing up, it is effortless killing the slopes. The design is cool as well, I like that wooden look. Maybe something with being closer to nature. Anyway, the Latigo is a ski you can take anywhere without thinking, more comfort than bite. Just enjoy the snow.

Blizzard about the Latigo

"The narrowest of Blizzard's Freeride All-Mountain line, the Latigo is a 78mm ski that bridges the gap between race-inspired technology and a freeride feel. Lightning quick from edge-to-edge and effortless in the bumps, the Latigo is a frontside go-to for skiers lapping the chairlift at their home resort. Camber underfoot, rocker in the tip and tail, and Flipcore technology make for an energetic, lively, and nimble ride.", says Blizzard. Same as with the Blizzard Brahma, the early rise tail is at least questionable. Energetic and quick in the sense of effortless maneuvering is absolutely true.

2017-2018 Powder Ski Review

Wider skis are better! Let's check it out.

by Craig

I have selected some of the wider offerings (approximate 115mm underfoot and above) that were available for 2016-17 season, as well, the new releases coming for 2017-18. See the individual ski reviews on the Yellow Gentian site for further details on each ski, and best internet pricing on...
