Advanced freeride skier
Craig's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
"Powder bump runs with numerous face shots, creamy untracked pow turns, and even huge carve turns on empty groomed runs at the beginning of the day are my favorite. I am not a high speed skier."

Top Pick in this width
Construction returns unchanged for the 18-19 season, and for good reason. I had the 15-16 generation in my personal inventory for several years. This was a top rated ski for its period, and this new version exceeds that!
My old Bonafides had lost some of their edge grip as they aged (even with frequent tuning, and increased edge angles) however, even when new, they fell behind the edge hold of this new iteration. Beautiful carve turns at all radius, with excellent high speed stability and damping, and very quick edge change. I had decided to move away from this width ski in my Quiver, for my local Colorado conditions. I have found that I can easily transition from a approximately 88mm underfoot to my wide powder ski, and skip the approximate 100mm underfoot width. This width underfoot is great for a one ski Quiver in this Rocky Mountain area. HOWEVER.......this ski is so goooood, I would love to have it available in my Quiver. The rep explained that the new Bonafide is a bit softer in the tip and tail, with added carbon content in these areas. Normally, I would assume additional carbon might stiffen these areas, with more pop. This is not the case. This ski is more forgiving, and quicker, yet has better edge hold, and the same excellent damping, and stability, that the previous Bonafide was famous for.
The new Bonafide is excellent in bumps for this width, and exceeds the performance of the previous generation. One of the best I have ridden in this approximate 98mm underfoot.
Not available for this test. The previous generation was ok in powder for this width. This new ski, with a softer tip and tail, should add to this skis pow credentials.
Who is this ski for?
- Top pick for a one ski quiver
- If you ski the whole mountain
- If you just want a great ski!
