Advanced+ level all-mountain skier Heyman's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
en-US - * - 4286
"A good frontside all-mountain ski is an agressive carver to lay trenches on the groomers and should also be able to handle bumps, skied of pistes and up to 10cm of fresh snow. A combination of a sportive character and comfort."
The Head Power Instinct Ti Pro is a frontside all-mountain ski that is designed to perform in all circumstances on piste. Let's see how it does. First, the turn initiation is on the slow side for a piste ski. In mid turn the skis produce loads of edge hold which keeps the skis on track at all times. All the energy you put into it, is transferred to the snow. There's no skidding and no uncertainties about leaving your track. Wide fast turns is what the Power Instinct does best, but it handles without much effort in short aggressive turns as well. In a straight line the Power Instinct is damp enough to thunder down the slopes at whatever speed you like. And the 82mm waist ensures a fine performance on less than perfect groomers. All in all a well balanced ski, that can do anything you ask from it, but delivers no exceptional performance in any aspect. And not very playful either. But it gets a 4 star rating from me.
Who is this ski for?
This ski is made for all advanced all-mountain skiers who don't leave the prepared slopes and desire a ski that can do everything in all circumstances. Skiers who don't have much power in their legs will not get the best out of the Power Instinct. Neither is this ski made for very delicate skiers who emphasize mostly in fine technique. Speed and power is what this ski wants. I tested the 177cm version, which was exactly right for me. So my advise for the best length would be your own length.
Head about the Power Instinct Ti Pro
"The award winning Power Instinct Ti Pro is a superior all-mountain carver; as happy railing long arcs and short turns as it is blasting through powder and crud. The 20% rocker and 80% camber combo of Allride rocker is key to its versatility, delivering snappy precise turns and float in the tough stuff. For added stability at speed, lightness and progressive response we gave this mid-wide terrain muncher a revolutionary Graphene enhanced WC Sandwich Cap Construction and gave it race-fast, all condition contact to the snow. In short the Power Instinct Ti Pro is a beast that knows no borders.", says Head.
