Advanced all-mountain skier
Steef's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
"Versatility is crucial. I want to cover the whole mountain on the same day. Stability and camber for carving on piste, rocker for float off-piste, agility and playfulness are key factors for my perfect all-mountain ski."
My favourite all-mountain skis:
1. Armada TST
2. Salomon Quest 98
3. Elan Amphibio 16 TI2 Fusion
To all my reviews
A superb all-mountain ski
The Elan Amphibio 16 Ti2 Fusion (178 cm is the tested length) is a nimble all-mountain ski and is suitable for a broad range of skiers who like to stay on piste. Predictable behavior, light footed, great grip and easy handling are the keywords. Wether you are carving, speeding, cruising or relaxing, you can do it all without effort. The looks are quite modest: just black with some green accents and it suits it very well.
Confidence building machine
Just put on the skis and go, it feels like coming home. You will always feel in control. It carves like a slalom and giant slalom ski but without punishing you by each and every little mistake. And it still has a good rebound for doing dynamic carving turns with always enough grip. Off-piste capabilities are poor though, but hey, that is not what the ski is meant for. I give it a 5 star rating because this ski generates such an enormous amount of confidence on piste, that you will automatically move up your boundaries!
Elan about the Amphibio 16 TI2 Fusion
"It has Amphibio 4D technology, with our Amphibio® profile, which assures greater edge grip and faster, more direct turns. The convex front section of the ski provides more precise turn entry, while the concave rear guarantees a dynamic exit from the turn. These skis don’t hold an unwanted line and let you finish the turn when you want to. Dual Shaped Titanium increases torsional stability, reduces vibration by 30%, and brings down the weight of the ski. These skis have a new lifted binding system with an improved toe ramp for faster carve initiation and enhanced performance and power transmission. This ski is equipped with RST Sidewalls, a Response Frame Woodcore, and Dual Shaped Ti2. With its all black graphics and green sidewalls this ski is elegant and aggressive on the slopes.", says Elan. All I can say is that Elan has accomplished to make a perfectly balanced piste ski.
