Advanced level all-mountain
skier Alex's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
Fluid turning and versatile ski
I tested the Dynastar Powertrack 84 with the standard advised Fluid X binding. The combination makes this all-mountain ski very smooth and quite easy to ski. Supple turning and switching edges makes it suitable for intermediate skiers. The Powertrack 84 has a pretty large rocker in the tip which allows you to enter powder snow stretches as well. Versatile ski as it holds in about every condition, especially slush and softer snow. Personally I look for more challenge or specific qualities, 3 star rating, but versatile it is!
Edge hold on groomers
The Dynastar Powertrack 84 has a flat tail with rocker in it as the profile says. Maybe it is because of the rocker, but I expected more of the flat tail in the sense of edge hold on groomers. Even for an all-mountain ski it tends to sliding a bit too soon to my taste. On the icier groomers that is as on softer prepared slopes it holds fine. It is the compromise in the Powertrack 84 that one may or may not like. If you have one pair of skis and this combination of qualities is yours, it is a great ski. As the stability of the ski decreases at higher speed and the formentioned edge grip with force on it will as well, expert skiers and those who want a challenge better pick something else.
