Reviewer Alex

"I like rocker for easy turning and float off-piste. Tip vibration doesn't bother me at all. Of course versatility is a condition for a quality all-mountain ski. It depends on snow conditions whether I prefer frontside skis."

Fluid turning and versatile ski

I tested the Dynastar Powertrack 84 with the standard advised Fluid X binding. The combination makes this all-mountain ski very smooth and quite easy to ski. Supple turning and switching edges makes it suitable for intermediate skiers. The Powertrack 84 has a pretty large rocker in the tip which allows you to enter powder snow stretches as well. Versatile ski as it holds in about every condition, especially slush and softer snow. Personally I look for more challenge or specific qualities, 3 star rating, but versatile it is!

Edge hold on groomers

The Dynastar Powertrack 84 has a flat tail with rocker in it as the profile says. Maybe it is because of the rocker, but I expected more of the flat tail in the sense of edge hold on groomers. Even for an all-mountain ski it tends to sliding a bit too soon to my taste. On the icier groomers that is as on softer prepared slopes it holds fine. It is the compromise in the Powertrack 84 that one may or may not like. If you have one pair of skis and this combination of qualities is yours, it is a great ski. As the stability of the ski decreases at higher speed and the formentioned edge grip with force on it will as well, expert skiers and those who want a challenge better pick something else.

Dynastar about the Powertrack 84

"This is "all-mountain" unchained. The all-new POWERTRACK 84 introduces a new era of all-mountain performance for expert to advanced skiers. Combining the best elements of modern freeride and all-mountain ski design, this breakthrough new one-ski-quiver provides a huge sweet spot, keeping you firmly balanced in the driver's seat across all terrain and snow conditions. Moderate tip and tail rocker provides effortless balance, float, and control through variable snow, while traditional camber underfoot retains the power, energy, and edge grip for solid hard-snow performance. A progressive five-point sidecut allows for powerful carved turns that engage quickly and release with ease in any snow condition, providing the consistent yet playful versatility and control that sets a new all-mountain standard. Equal parts power and playfulness, maneuverability and control, Powertrack delivers the well-rounded, freeride-inspired performance to make the entire mountain your playground. 50% Off-Trail/ 50% On-Trail", according to Dynastar. Aspiring intermediates and relaxing advanced skiers can have nice skidays on the Powertrack 84 with variable snowconditions during the week.
