Advanced+ level all-mountain
skier Heyman's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
"A solid backside all-mountain ski is as strong on-piste as it is off-piste. It is made to perform well everywhere within the resort bounderies. Stiff enough to remain stable at top speed, flexible enough for comfort and floatation in powder snow."
My favourite backside
1. Atomic Vantage 90 CTI
2. Armada ARVti
3. Nordica NRGy 100
To all my reviews
Sportive and comfortable
The Atomic Vantage 90 CTI is a super versatile all-mountain ski. The edge grip is just unbelievable for a ski this wide. While testing this ski on perfect groomers, I made high speed turns going almost horizontal. The more pressure I applied, the tighter the skis cornered. There was just no way that the Vantage 90 CTI would drift off line. Although the ski is very light, it continued to feel damp even at mach speed. And afterwards on skied off slopes I was amazed that I could still go full throttle. And without too much effort as well. Even in "kurtzschwung" (aggressive short turns) the skis turn easy because of the weight reduction but brake sufficiently as well. So all in all the Atomic Vantage 90 CTI fully deserves my 5 star rating.
Who is this ski for...
The Vantage 90 CTI is the perfect ski for any advanced skier who wants only one ski to cover the whole mountain. One ski that is capable of laying trenches on the groomers, that kills crud and that has enough float to do some off-piste tree skiing. Also intermediates will love this ski for its forgivingness that opens for them the world of wider skis. The Vantage 90 CTI is a good step towards your first freeride ski. I tested the 176cm version, which I liked a lot for its playfulness and the nimble way of maneuvering. So if you're into that kind of skiing, take the Vantage 90 CTI at your own body length. If you want to trade that for even more stability, power and float, 5 to 10cm above your body length will get you that.
Atomic about the Vantage 90 CTI
"The Atomic Vantage 90 CTI grips like a high-performance piste ski, but with its All Mountain Rocker it still delivers killer performance across the mountain. It’s one of the top models in our Vantage series – progressive all-mountain skis built to be great on hard pack and equally good in soft snow. To achieve that balance it features Carbon Tank Mesh, a layer of rigid woven mesh that adds strength across the ski while actually reducing weight. That’s on top of a Titanium Backbone 2.0 that runs the length of the ski. The ski also comes with the iconic Vantage Firewall, an extra full sidewall for power transmission and edge grip. Plus a Power Woodcore, more directional shape and less tail turn up – all adding to its piste performance.", says Atomic.
