Advanced+ level piste skier Heyman's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:

"In both short and long turns a good piste ski is stiff enough to remain stable at max speed and flexible enough to handle bumps and loose snow when circumstances get worse. I like them playful as I consider the whole piste a big playground."
The Volant Pure Silver is a high quality piste ski. It carves pretty sharp on groomers, both tight and longer turns. No matter how fast you go, the skis stay composed and stable. No vibrations of any kind. The ride is super comfortable without being lame. On the contrary you can rip the piste if you want, but the nice thing about the Pure Silver is that you don't have to. It performs well when skied softly and aggressively as well. When testing the Pure Silver I went off-piste in 15cm of fresh snow. Despite its narrow 71mm waist the skis behaved pretty well. So even the occasional off-piste visit is possible. All in all the Volant Pure Silver is a very versatile ski.
It's not our habit at Yellow Gentian to talk about money, but in the case of the Volant Pure Silver the matter is inevitable. For the price of a pair of Pure Silvers you can easily get 2 pairs of high end skis of another top brand. And that is where this ski drops points. Yes it's a beautiful ski to look at and if money is of no concern then you should buy one. But to me it's unquestionable qualities are not big enough to prevent me from buying 2 different kind of top skis for the same price. Therefore I reward this ski with 3 stars.
Volant about the Pure Silver
"Effortless elegance on-piste. Soft flex and dynamic sidecut for exceptional smoothness and superb control. Lightweight Densolite core for lively performance.", says Volant. All true. Especially the combination of smoothness and control is what makes the Pure Silver a very good ski.
