Ski review Völkl Code Speedwall
All-mountain ski for the easy rider
The Völkl Code Speedwall ski is suitable for carving without wasting a lot of energy. It turns easy and smooth on the prepared slope. I consider this as an all-mountain ski you wouldn't want to take in deep powder. A few turns in a layer of fresh snow next to the piste is fine, but i wouldn't take the Code Speedwall for a freeride day.

The name Speedwall shouldn't trick you. The Code Speedwall is fine if you go at medium speed. If you speed up though, compare it to the faster minority you see on pistes, it becomes unstable. So the ski is not for the race addicts among us. Check the piste ski department for the real speeddevils. Instead you get more comfort by the flexibility it has. That is due to the rocker quality i guess.

70% piste - 30% off-piste
Easy turning, smooth ride
All conditions on piste
Comfortable in its quality
Skiing with wife and kids
Basically the Völkl Code Speedwall has everything to take when you are on the road with wife and kids. With that i mean those days that you are not looking for the extremes. This all-mountain ski makes your day a bit easier. You are not going too fast, not on long freerides and it is comfortable in turning at low speeds as well. The whole family will be glad as you stay around and still it is good enough to enjoy the skiing as well.
Völkl about the Code Speedwall
Code Speedwall is race-ready and tip & tail rocker. Völkl has put racing and freeride ski technology in the Code Speedwall. Therefore they address the qualities likewise apparently. Well pure racing is a no go, pure freeriding is a no go too. To me it is more a question if the glass is half full or half empty. Coming from a race-carving addiction it is half empty. If you are not in for the extremes, it can be half full. Compare it to the HD-ready TV's which weren't a big success for playing full HD movies.

In character the Fischer Hybrid 7.0 Powerrail comes close to the Völkl Code Speedwall. Overall as all-mountain ski the Salomon Quest 90 might surprise you with its competitive piste quality. Although if you are triggered by the "speed" in the Völkl ski's name, have a look at Head Integrale 009, which is said to be all-mountain segment too...
