Advanced+ level all-mountain
skier Heyman's rating of this ski:
Considering his skiers profile:
"A good frontside all-mountain ski is an agressive carver to lay trenches on the groomers and should also be able to handle bumps, skied of pistes and up to 10cm of fresh snow. A combination of a sportive character and comfort."
My favourite frontside
1. Stöckli Laser AX
2. Elan Amphibio 16 Ti2
3. Salomon X-Drive 8.0 FS
To all my reviews
Both sharp and smooth all-mountain ski
The Fischer Hybrid 7.3 is almost versatility itself. Just pull the switch in the front of the ski and the Hybrid 7.3 transforms its camber profile into a rocker/camber profile and back again. Put the switch forward and pull the tip of the ski towards you (like you see me do in the picture above) untill you hear click. That way the skis, where they first had a traditional long arc profile, now they suddenly have an early rise tip. That changes everything. First the skis have a lot of grip and they are stable at speed (good for hard or icy snow conditions). Later the skis are comfortable in bumpy terrain and when the circumstances on piste get worse.
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde
The transformation is both efficient and effective. In the morning when the groomers are perfect, the Fischer Hybrid 7.3 is a rigid (not too much, just right for intermediates and easy going advanced skiers) carve machine. And then, when the bumps and heaps of loose snow start to form on piste, the skis become comfortable, more easy cruisers, going over obstacles rather than through them. On long straights though the skis become quite nervous. But all in all a very much deserved 4 star rating.
Fischer about the Hybrid 7.3
"Wherever your journey may take you, with this ski you are prepared for anything and everything. On/off ROCKER technology for universal use and all fields of application", says Fischer. Yes, the Hybrid 7.3 is a versatile ski, but "wherever the journey may take you" and "universal" is highly exaggerated. Don't go too far off-piste and in no more than 20cm of fresh pow.
Elan Amphibio 14: smooth, easy and comfortable cruiser for any circumstances on piste.
Atomic Nomad Smoke Ti: an intermediates joy, easy to handle but a sharp carver if need be.
Nordica Fuel: wonderful all-mountain ski that is as smooth as silk in all conditions on piste.
