"I like rocker for easy turning and float off-piste. Tip vibration doesn't bother me at all. Of course versatility is a condition for a quality all-mountain ski. It depends on snow conditions if I prefer frontside skis."

All-mountain ski for intermediate skiers

The Atomic Theory is an all-mountain ski for the intermediate skier. It is not too difficult or challenging on the piste for me, but quite comfortable. In some fresh snow it was fine for turning as well. I didn't take the Theory into deep powder. The twin tip makes skiing playful, freestylish, of course, that's why I was happy with the edge grip the Atomic Theory still offers on piste.

The rocker parts for float

Being wide and having rocker parts at both ends, the Theory floats with the first powder. For me, that gives a comfortable feeling compared to those ski's who tend to dive. Then you feel like struggling all the time to keep the ski's on top. To me this is a very nice ski to learn how to ski in powder. Especially on those stretches next to the piste which usually have a hard base.

Atomic about Vantage Theory

"The ski is an exceptional versatile all-mountain twin-tip.", according to Atomic. Yes in the way that the Theory is easy to steer on the edge on a groomed slope. And yes in the way that the Rocker parts work fine for some powder. No in the way of the "exceptional" remark. Just very good in the intermediate segment!

Atomic Vantage Panic: is more playful in all conditions.
Salomon Quest 98: better in powder and just as good on harder pack.
Salomon X-Drive 8.8 FS: a bit stiffer and more stable, if speed is important too.

"A true all-mountain ski is as good off-piste as it is on-piste. Stiff enough to remain stable at top speed, flexible enough for comfort in poor circumstances. It is essential that the perfect all-mountain ski performs well in all conditions."

Twin tip all-mountain ski

The Atomic Vantage Theory is not a really outspoken ski. It carves nice wide turns on piste without having to put too much effort into the turn. It floats nicely on powder snow providing the snow is not too soft and not too deep. At speed it's easy to make a turn in powder. Don't go too slow or you'll sink in. What the Theory doesn't like is icy piste. The twin tips and relative flexibility provide not enough egde grip to keep you from sliding from your line.

This ski is made for...

The Vantage Theory's moderate performance in all aspects of skiing makes it a good ski for intermediate skiers who want to start exploring the whole mountain. The lack of aggression which causes the mediocre edge grip and little stability at maximum speed, are just the right ingredients for a ski that won't snap at every little mistake you make. And rest assured that you will make those little mistakes frequently when starting out skiing off-piste.

Atomic about the Vantage Theory

"It features a Woodcore with Step Down Sidewall construction for great edge grip and amazing versatility, while its Carbon Backbone construction is super lightweight, strong and stable. Float on powder, grip on piste. Pick your binding and go anywhere and everywhere. The Theory is an ideal all-mountain ski if you’re keen to tackle the challenges of what the entire mountain has to offer", according to Atomic.

Nordica NRGy 100: perfectly balanced all-mountain ski, not too stiff, not too flexible, just right.
Armada ARVti: maneuverable, twin tip all-mountain ski that's both fast and playful, made for advanced skiers.
Atomic Vantage Ritual: maneuverable yet stable all-mountain ski that may be more of a freeride ski.
